After what appeared to be an overflowing cup of artists
name dropping “Radio One” during the recent Stellar Award weekend in Nashville,
Tennessee, Radio One’s Director of Inspirational Programming Elroy Smith exits
the Urban radio broadcaster where he also served as Operations Manager of its
cluster in Philadelphia.
Previously, Smith programmed the cluster’s Urban WPHI-FM
(100.3 The Beat). Prior to his move to Philadelphia in 2007, Smith was OM of
Clear Channel’s Urban WGCI-FM and OM/PD of Urban AC WVAZ-FM (V103)/Chicago.
Here’s what Smith told AllAccess.com, “It has been one of
the best experiences of my career. I
learned a tremendous amount of knowledge from JAY STEVENS. I also want to thank BARRY MAYO, ALFRED
LIGGINS, CATHY HUGHES, CHRIS WEGMAN, BRUCE DEMS, newly appointed PHILADELPHIA
GM/VP SHAWNEEN THOMPSON, all of my RADIO ONE/PHILADELPHIA cohorts and those
throughout the company. Oh, and I don’t
want to forget to thank DAVID KANTOR and GARY BERNSTEIN of REACH MEDIA.”
